CHERTSEY

BOATS, BRIDGES, BOILERS ... IF IT'S GOT RIVETS, I'M RIVETTED
... feminist, atheist, autistic academic and historic narrowboater ...
Likes snooker, beer, tea, rivets and solitude, and is strangely fascinated by the cinema organ.
And there might be something about railways.

Welcome to the 100th post of 2019

Some years didn't make it this far: 2014, 2015 and 2018 all had fewer than 100 posts. 2016 had 100 exactly, and the 100th one was about a filthy face flannel. In 2010, the 100th post was about going to Ely and buying some copper sheet and what became Chertsey's chimney chain. In 2010, the 100th post was likewise on April 10th, because in 2010 I posted every day until October 4th, and then only twenty times thereafter. That's a worrying thought for this year's prospects, but I shall have to see if I can do better. 2010 still holds the record for the most posts in a year, with 297.

Next, with 197, is the following year, 2011, closely followed by 2017 with 195. 2011's 100th post included welcoming a newly painted and signwritten Chertsey back from Grendon, whilst 2017's was a sad farewell to another blog. In 2012, when we were living on Bakewell, the 100th post was about having repainted the cans, and in the final year to boast a 100th post, 2013 ... well, it's a mystery, because it was just a photo, and Blogpress (with which I am very displeased) has eaten it. Scrolling back and forth a few posts, I conclude that this related to the abortive attempt to take a trip on the paddle steamer Waverley. Post 100 did not occur until October that year.

Going back further, every one of the Warrior blog's years hit the 100 mark. Its first year, 2006, equalled that of a decade later, with a round 100, the last of which was a review of the year - buit of course, it had only started in April.  2008's 100th (of 245) has Sebastian modelling a Keep Calm and Carry On t-shirt (an original Barter Books one) and a sinister grin, in mid-June. 2007's 100th post was the blog's 200th, and came in May, with repairs to the castle painting on one of Warrior's back doors. 2007 went on to clock up 247 posts, but was beaten by 2009's 267 - of which the 100th was easily the most momentous and significant of this collection - the first time I ever steered a big Woolwich, only slightly less than ten years ago.

I thought I'd append a list of years in descending order of blogging profligacy:
  1. 2010
  2. 2009
  3. 2007
  4. 2008
  5. 2011
  6. 2017
  7. 2012
  8. 2013
  9. 2006
  10. 2016
  11. 2014
  12. 2018
  13. 2015
