A real mystery photo

Inasmuch as I don't know where this one was taken, when, why, or by whom. I found it randomly among some books at my mother's house - it's quite conceivable I took it myself.

I'm thinking possibly Northampton Arm, but can anyone identify any distinguishing features at all?

  1. I've just watched our "Bowcam" video of the Northampton Arm and I'm pretty sure this isn't anywhere along that arm.

There just might be the narrows of a former bridge where the white (swan?)is, but it could equally well be extra vegetation.

  2. It does look like it was taken from a boat, doesn't it, which would rule out a disused waterway... The apparent presence of a towpath suggests it's not the Middle Levels. That's about as far as I've got.

  3. Just saw this, a bit late I know, but could it be the Wendover arm beyond the flour mill?

  4. I've just watched our "Bowcam" video of the full open length of the Wendover Arm in both directions and I don't believe the photo is from there. Sorry Neil.
