I think the Beatrice is finding a place in my heart though, I've been using it exclusively these past two days and the only real downside is the soot if the flame's turned up too high. It doesn't even seem any slower than the primus for boiling a kettle.Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01759448161130667128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5087283544997030082.post-80668470593388397662011-08-19T22:48:10.654+01:002011-08-19T22:48:10.654+01:00Neither cheap to buy, nor (I suspect if I did the ...Neither cheap to buy, nor (I suspect if I did the arithmetic) cheap to fuel, our Origo meths stove on Sickle still really is the business.

Jim, (Owl) recommended, and we really can't quite believe how quickly a meths driven stive can boil up a big kettle, or how controllable it is for a whole range of cookery,

Of course it lacks the "oldness" of your choices, but it really works well for us.

Only downside, (other than cost), is the relative invisibility of the flame, which does mean you need to use with great care. If used outside in sunlight, it is all to easy to assume it's not lit, when it is.Alan Fincherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05818658735421434869noreply@blogger.com
